Cessna Aircraft announced it would offer a ‘stretched version’ of its midsize Citation Latitude at the 2012 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE). The new, super midsize Citation Longitude will be the largest Citation aircraft attempted since the termination of its Columbus 850 development program in 2009.

The super-midsize Citation Longitude will feature the same fuselage cross-section, windows, passenger seats and aluminum construction as the smaller Latitude. However, the Longitude will be nine feet longer, have a 31-foot long cabin, and enough room for up to eight passengers. The Longitude also boasts an upscale interior design. The cabin itself will feature a large forward galley, full aft lavatory with vacuum-flushing toilet, full berthing seats that also swivel, and an entertainment center with a large flat-screen monitor.

The Longitude will compete with the Embraer Legacy 650 and the Bombardier Challenger 605. The aircraft is expected to make its first flight in 2016 and Cessna foresees that it will earn FAA certification in 2017.

Cessna Citation Longitude Specificatons:

  • Max. Range: 4,00 nm (7,408 km)
  • Seating Capacity: up to 8 passengers
  • Interior Cabin Height: 6ft (1.83 m)
  • Max. Operating Speed: 0.86 MACH
  • Max. Certified Altitude: 45,000 ft. (13,716 m)

the-future-of-eco-luxury-travel

There’s a new hotel concept that’s truly redefining the eco-luxury industry. This hotel is known as the ‘DROP eco-hotel’, and it is a portable hotel room that can easily be placed virtually anywhere in the world. According to Forbes Life contributor, Jim Dobson, this modular hotel room will soon become one of the most unique travel experiences ever. The idea behind the hotel room is to offer travelers the option to take their hotel suite to just about any spot in the world, and then easily remove it without causing ecological harm to the surrounding environment.

The suite’s structure is made out of prefabricated wooden and steel elements. The architecture can be custom designed and installed with minimum impact on the environment. To adapt to irregular terrains and reduce the amount of contact with the undeveloped land, the structure’s base is elevated from the ground on adjustable steel legs.

The suite also features dramatic, large bubble windows at each end of the suite, seemingly bringing guests in direct contact with nature. The windows virtually remove the barrier between indoors and outdoors by providing natural ventilation. Another cool feature is that the suite includes a skylight that runs the entire length of the pod, providing plenty of natural light during the day and amazing views of the stars at night.

Each green hotel suite comfortably accommodates two adults. Although the suite has a small size of 275 square feet, it contains enough space for a lounge area and a bedroom, as well as a separate bathroom with toilet, shower and bath. There is even a wood terrace that offers outdoor seating.

A couple of the pod’s green features include thin, photovoltaic solar films on the roof for power generation, and a rainwater collection system to harvest water for use in the bathroom, each further reducing the suite’s environmental impact. The Drop eco-hotel aims to meet the growing demand for eco-tourism around the world. The combination of this suite’s futuristic concept, and the convenience and flexibility of private jet charter will make the possibilities of seeing every corner of the world possibly endless.
